30 Weeks

Well actually I'm 30 weeks and 4 days but who's counting?!?! I can't believe how fast it has gone. And I can't believe that I'm only going to get bigger. How is that possible?! My doctor says I'm measuring on track but I'm convinced her tape measure is broken.

Fun things at this stage in pregnancy:
  • Swelling...oh my word. It's worse when I've been at work all day. I have been retaining so much water it's ridiculous. I've never had kankles until now but after a long day at work I certainly have kankles.
  • Carpal tunnel...another thing no one warns you about. I had no idea it was a common pregnancy symptom. I had signs of it in my first trimester but it went away. It has now come back in full force. Now I have a new accessory to wear.
You'll notice it in my belly pic.
  • I still get nauseous but not nearly as often
  • Sadie moves a lot and I love it. Josh gets to feel her a lot more often.
  • She does not like the heart doppler. It takes me forever to get a heart beat because she moves as far away from it as she can get. I can see her moving all over the place and it's funny. I try to be nice and only listen every once and a while.
  • I go to the bathroom all.the.time.
  • When I drop something on the ground I just leave it because it isn't easy to pick up.
  • I have some really weird pains that come and go but nothing too crazy.
  • I did pass my glucose test so at least I can still enjoy my sugar.
  • Not much else has changed. I'm getting more and more uncomfortable but that's to be expected.
  • Her crib bedding is coming along nicely and there are a few clothing items I have lined up to make. I can't believe I still haven't made her anything.
  • I hope to get most of her clothes washed soon even though she doesn't have a nursery to put them in. I just love having little clothes around the house. Her Jules and Big D just keep buying them.
  • I have my first baby shower in a couple of weeks and I can't wait!!
  • A friend of mine is going to paint a canvas for her room and I know it is going to be GREAT!!!!!
  • Overall we're just trying to get the last minute things finished before she gets here. I'm so ready to meet her although I hope she stays put for at least 6 more weeks.

Weekend Recap

**The travel system is a Chicco Cortina Key Fit something or other. I can't remember the name of the color combination.**

This past weekend, well really Saturday, was busy and productive. Josh and I started off our day with breakfast at Panera. Shocking, I know. From there we went and looked at a place to live. I've been really dreading finding another place to live and moving. Part of the reason for the dread is because I really want to buy a house. The pre-Dave Ramsey Josh and Hillary probably would be buying a house but right now, in our current situation, with our current financial goals, it just simply isn't a good idea. It's hard because my pride says we must not be accomplished, successful people because we can't buy a home. That's a selfish and silly thought though. First of all I should be thankful we are able to have a place to live at all. Many people do not and we are blessed. Second of all we CAN buy a house but it just doesn't fit into our long term financial plan at this point. At some point it will but for now it doesn't. Anyway...we found a place we think we'll like. It has a few cons but they are minor and are more about convenience than anything. All of the main areas of interest are covered in this new place. We are praying that someone will come along and want the apartment we are in now so that we can move out of it and into a new one before Sadie arrives.

After looking at places to live Josh and I headed to a local furniture store to buy a chair for Sadie's nursery. We've been thinking a lot about it. We don't have a lot of furniture since our living spaces are so small so I really wanted a place that we could sit, feed, and rock her. I hated to spend the money but luckily Josh and I have an account with money for furniture and appliances in it. We had planned to used it for a king size bed, washer, dryer, etc. Looks like we'll be using it for a chair for Sadie and a washer and dryer instead. Believe it or not it is the first piece of furniture Josh and I have bought together. We got a GREAT deal on it and I can't wait for it to come in.

This is the one we bought. It is so comfortable and it's big enough for Josh to sit in yet small enough for me. We chose "green apple" for the fabric and there won't be any contrasting piping. It will be all one color.

After buying the chair we went and looked at cameras. We've decided to invest in a nice camera. As many pictures as I take and as much as I love to blog it only makes sense that we get one. I asked about what we should get and I think I've made my decision. We are going to wait a little before buying but we'll get it soon. I can't wait to get it and learn how to use it. I'm sure there are lots of photo ops to come!

After all the "big" things were done there we a couple of little things I needed to do. First thing I wanted to find was an Easter basket for Sadie. I know...it's a little early. Well, since I already have something for her basket I needed a basket to put it in.

I found this basket on sale at Michael's. I'm going to paint it white and I'm going to make a liner for it. The girl needs to have her name on her basket! I'm excited to get started on it. I think her bedding should probably get finished firs before I start the basket.
The next thing on my list was that I needed to get her travel system out of the box and make sure it all worked and wasn't broken. I bought it online a while ago because I got a good deal but still hadn't taken it out. After a little assembly it was complete and everything was great.
I just love it. I looked at a lot and this set seemed to be the best for us and I liked the colors soooooooo much! I can't wait to put her in it and bring her home.

The rest of the day on Saturday was spent doing things around the house and then we went to dinner with friends Saturday night. Sunday was a busy day too full of napping and the Super Bowl. The weekend flew by and I'm already for another one. I hope you all had a great weekend too!

Big Events and a Sneak Peek

I've decided that I must like lots of exciting i.e. stressful things to surround big life events.
When Josh and I were planning a wedding I was also trying to sell a house in a bad market, looking for a new place to live in a different city, trying to find a new job, not to mention all the wedding stuff. It was a lot but God worked it all out beautifully. I sold and closed on my house 3 weeks before the wedding, found a job, and a place to live (with my parents, ha). All of those stressful situations were taken care of and I was blessed.

Fast forward to today. I'm 30 weeks pregnant (tomorrow), trying to get ready for a baby, looking for a new place to live, need to pack up our apartment, needing to make childcare decisions, struggling with some financial goals, etc. There's simply just a lot going on. Because I know God is willing and able I'm trusting Him to take care if it all. I'm even asking for an extra blessing or two and lots of provision. A Facebook friend put this on her page today, " Dont pray in hope pray in faith". That's where I'm at today. I want to pray believing God will come through big time not hoping He will. I can't wait to link back to this post one day while sharing all the ways God showed up. Stay tuned!

And just for fun here's a sneak peek at something else that's been taking up my time.

This is part if Sadie's bed skirt and both sides if her bumper (bad iPhone picture but you get the idea). I plan to get most of it finished this weekend. Wish me luck!!

Gifts

It's been a little while since I've posted something I've made. Mainly because I had stopped sewing for a while. Now I feel like I'm getting back in my groove again. My most recent creations have been for baby gifts. I can't believe I didn't take a "real" picture of this dress. The photo is from my phone so it's not great. I just LOVE this fabric though. Lucky for me I have just enough to make Sadie something.

This was a baby gift for Sadie's soon-to-be-friend Lily.

This gift is for Sadie's other soon-to-be-friend Amelia (in case the name didn't give it away). Both Lily and Amelia will be in the church nursery with Sadie.

And this is a gift that's been a long time coming. I actually made this in the fall, forgot about it completely (because it was made to be worn this spring) and that's why there aren't any buttons yet. I better put those on. I love little jon jons. I think they are so sweet.

Get Your Smock On

I am so excited! My mom is going to start smocking. Yea! I've been begging her to do it and she's finally going to. I was always jealous of my friend Jenny because her mom would smock the cutest things and Jenny would make the outfit for the inserts. I loved everything they ever put together and her son was always so cute. Well lucky for me Jenny's mom is going to teach my mom to smock. Wooohooo!! And I'm going to make a bubble outfit to put the insert in. I can't wait. Today we went and picked out the bubble pattern, fabric, and smocking stuff. We were advised to start simple so that's what we did.

Here's what we got. The smocking will be the "Tim" one only there won't be a name there. It will be all stitches. The bottom part will be in turquoise thread and the middle will be in bright pink. I'll make the bubble out of the turquoise gingham fabric. Oh I can just picture it. And I know Sadie's chubby little legs will looks cute in this bubble outfit. I know Sadie won't be able to or want to wear smocked outfits forever so I'm going to enjoy it while I can. I'll be sure and post pictures of the finished product.

Cards and Stickers

First of all thank you SOOOOOOO much for the comments on here, Facebook, and Twitter about Sadie's pictures. Josh and I are even more excited to have her here. I find myself looking at her sweet little face all the time!

A few weeks ago I contacted my friend Tricia (who designs my blog, Christmas cards, etc) and told her I wanted to get some cute cards printed that I could send out as a "thank you" to people who generously give Sadie a gift. I even told her I'd like to match Sadie's crib bedding. I know, a little silly, but I have that right. Well let me tell you that Tricia did not disappoint! She designed the cutest cards for me and I printed them at Vista Prints.

Seriously, aren't they cute? And I LOVE seeing her monogram.

After I got the cards I e-mailed her yet again and told her I wanted some stickers too. I wanted them for the backs of envelopes but also for a label on some hostess gifts. I also had these printed at Vista Print.

These haven't come in yet but I CAN'T wait until they do! Hopefully having these cute things will make writing thank you notes a lot easier! Poor Tricia I just keep her busy. You can already imagine what Sadie's birth announcements might look like. :)

Sadie's 28 Week Photos

Today I had my 4D ultrasound. I was sooooooooooooooooooooooo excited!! I hadn't seen Sadie in what seemed like forever. I got spoiled because I had seen her so much early on. In fact today was actually my 7th ultrasound. Crazy, huh?! One reason I wanted to see her again was of course to make sure she is healthy but also to confirm she is a girl. So many people kept telling me stories of how they were told they were having a girl and it ended up being a boy. Just so you know, it's probably not a good idea to share those stories with pregnant women. It makes us even more paranoid. Well for everyone out there who thought she might end up being a boy looks like you were wrong. :)

My child is most certainly a girl! I told Josh this was the only time I could post a picture like this. I'm sure Sadie will love me for this one day.
The ultrasound was great. The ONLY problem is that my child WOULD NOT PUT HER ARM DOWN! She kept her left arm up over her face most of the time but when she did put it down her right arm was there to fill the void. The pictures are a lot clearer in person but you'll get the idea.
And as Shea (the tech) was trying to wake her up she kept rubbing her eyes. Like she's had a hard day or something and we were seriously messing with her much needed nap.
She eventually put her arm down enough for us to see her face but she always kept it very close.
Sweet little nose.

Another arm shot.

Ahhh...just resting. I love how her lips look in this picture. And I'm already in love with her nose.

How sweet is she?!?!
She's measuring at 2 pounds and 12 ounces which is normal. At this rate if she's born on her due date she should be around 8 pounds. 8 pounds I can handle. The only other thing to think about is she does have a slightly larger head. I was too scared to ask how big it is. I think it's best I don't know. And as suspected she doesn't have any hair at this point. Well she might but if she does it's not much. I haven't had ANY heartburn so I figured she'd be bald.
Everything looks great. That's one reason I love Baby Views and Shea. She doesn't just look at the fun stuff but looks at the important things. According to Shea everything looks perfect. That was music to my ears. Seeing her in there made me so much more excited to have her here. I still have so much to do but I can't wait to meet her.
