Happy Birthday, Baby!!!

Just a few moments ago my friend Katiegave birth to sweet Colson. I wanted to blog it so that it will forever be part of my memories. I'm not sure there has ever been a birth I've been more anxious or excited about. I'm so full of joy at his arrival. He's a tangible reminder of God's redemption and faithfulness.I know God has BIG plans for this little guy. I pray that he will grow up to love the Lord with all his heart and that he will be a strong warrior for Christ. I know his sister Reese will be cheering him on! I love you already, Colson, and I CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YOU!!!!

Sweet Moments

Saturday night when I was back at my parent's house after dinner my mom had some desserts set out on the island. My eyes were immediately drawn to something I hadn't seen before. She had a bag of Pillsbury bite size brownies. They are part of the Sweet Moments line.

Let's just say I thought they were delicious. Especially for a package brownie. They were pretty gooey which is how I like mine. It was a nice treat. I looked for them at the store today and saw the other item in the Sweet Moments collection.

I'm pretty sure I'll be trying these soon too. They have a little, ok a lot, more than 60 calories though so I refrained from getting them this trip. Maybe next time.

Weekend Recap

Josh and I have had a great weekend! It all started with dinner at my parent's house on Friday. Some of my family from Tennessee came into town and it was so good to see them. The sad thing about the whole weekend is that I had my camera with me at all times but took hardly any pictures of my family. So sad.

The meal was sooo good and the company was even better. Josh and I had to leave a little early so I could get a few things done at home.

Saturday morning we went to breakfast, of course.

Can you tell where we are eating in this picture? Don't let the coffee fool you. We're actually at Panera. Yes, I did take my Starbucks to Panera. I've gotten into a bad habit of wanting breakfast at PB but wanting my coffee from SB.

After breakfast I ran a few errands, Josh went to his sister's softball game then we both went to a wedding. Not just any wedding but the wedding of our children's pastor. Josh and I have been excited about this day for a LONG TIME! Aaron and Shannon are so great together and I'm glad to have another partner in crime....i.e. another minister's wife.

Here's our other help. I was so proud of some of our youth for helping with the dishes and everything. They also drank a lot of punch and ate a lot of cake.

Notice Josh's sleeves are rolled up. That's because he did most of the dishes during the reception. I think he really enjoys the high powered dish washer we have in the kitchen.

After the wedding Josh and I went home, changed clothes, then headed back to my parent's house for more family fun. A group of 11 of us went to dinner and had a good time. There were two tables, the adults and the kids. Josh and I sat with my cousin David and our friends Brian and Sydney who are engaged.

After dinner the group sat around my parent's house and talked it up. Josh and I stayed for a while then we headed home to go to bed. I love my family and am so glad we got to spend time with them and some family friends. I can't wait until we can do it all again. We're thinking the AR vs Ole Miss (they are OM fans) game next year is a good time for a meet up. See you guys at the Grove!

Sewing Orders

I am excited that so many of you have interest in me making dresses for you. I have had so much response and pray I can keep up. Some of you have left questions in my comments. If you leave me a comment and you want a response please include your e-mail address so I can get back to you. I'm hoping to get caught up on my current orders before I go on vacation in a couple weeks. If you need a rush on something be sure and let me know ahead of time so I can plan. Rush orders will have an extra charge but I'll try to accomodate you the best I can. Thanks again for your support. Keep checking back as I will be adding new items from time to time. And in the near future my friend and I plan to launch a website and/or etsy shop.

Wednesday Already?

Is it Wednesday already? I can hardly believe it! We had a great long weekend (except that I got a sinus infection). Josh and I ran a few errands on Saturday. He went with me to fabric stores (3 in fact) and I went with him to Mardel's. A pretty fair trade off. Here's the fabric I bought after it was all washed.

One thing I hate about washing fabric is how the edges fray up and there are threads everywhere. I've learned it doesn't matter how expensive the fabric is it always does that. Oh well, pre-washed fabric makes for a better end result so it's worth it. While I did laundry Josh and Chloe studied. Chloe was a big help as you can see. Josh and I had the pleasure of staying with her this weekend again. She's such a crazy dog but I love her.

I'd love to tell you that Josh and I had a really exciting rest of the weekend. Since I didn't feel well I took naps, sewed, and that's about it. Josh took naps and studied. He and I are both really ready for a vacation! We did indulge in a treat Monday night. We stopped and got dinner at a new place in Little Rock.

I have been so excited about having a Five Guys in Little Rock now. I had heard great things about it. It was delicious. As good as the burger was I think the fries are my favorite. So yummy. I look forward to eating them again and again. :)

I guess that's all the excitement I can come up with now. I'm on my way to the pharmacy to get my prescriptions and then it's home to nap and sew.

It's Saturday

Hello friends! It's early Saturday morning. By early I mean around 7:20 am. I don't normally post on Saturday's but since I was up I thought I would give it a whirl! I have a confession and I don't think you're going to like it. I get the award for worst blogger this week. Not because of my lack of posts but because I arrived last night at the Fourth of July Celebration at church with a DEAD CAMERA BATTERY! *Gasp* What good blogger does that? I'm so ashamed. I don't have one single picture. I took a lot of pictures for the church with their camera but none to call my very own. I will say that we had a lot of fun. The fireworks were great, the weather was nice, and we had a lot of non-church members show up. This is the second year our church has done this as an outreach ministry. I think it is certainly something I can get used to.

I feel like today is going to be wonderful and busy and I'm praying the Lord multiplies my time. This morning, as always, Josh and I will go get breakfast, groceries, and then we are going to look at fabric. I think he's really excited about the fabric part. You see, I'm going to spend a good part of my day today sewing. You know why? Because several of you are so kind as to love the dresses, ruffle shirts (I posted it on twitter), jewelry envelopes, etc I've made and want one for someone you love. I'm so honored and flattered that some of you would let me make things for you! Seriously. Here's a picture of some fabric I'm using to make a few things.

I L.O.V.E. this fabric. Picture it in a jumper dress (the zebra print), a ruffle dress, a ruffle shirt, and ruffle pants. SO CUTE! I like it because it's bright but it's also not seasonal. These fabrics can be worn year round. I can't wait to share pictures with you! Hopefully the ladies who are buying from me will share the pictures of their cuties wearing them.

Also, I wanted to let you mothers of boys know something. I'm going to be making jon-jon's/rompers in the next couple of weeks. I can't just make girl's clothes now can I? I will post pictures when I get them finished.

Friday F.Y.I.

Ok, so I've heard a lot lately about dry shampoos. I've always wanted to try them. Those of you who know me know I do NOT like washing my hair. There was a glorious time in my life when I could go 5 days without washing. That's huge for someone with fine hair. I know some thick-haired ladies who can go weeks. Jealous. Now, however, I'm back to every other day and sometimes even that's a stretch. So sad. I thought about trying a dry shampoo for the "dirty" days to see if it helped. The only problem was that I wasn't interested in paying a TON of money to try something I wasn't sure if I'd like. Let me rephrase that. I'm not interesting in paying a TON of money for anything but I would be willing to spend more on something if I knew I'd like it and it would work.

One day I was in the shampoo aisle at Walmart. I'm not even sure why (maybe look for hair color or something) but my eyes just happened to land on this...

Ohhhhhhh, I could hardly take it I was so excited. It took all of 2 seconds to toss it in my cart. I waited until just the right day to give it a try. At first I was NOT impressed. My hair felt gross and I thought it looked dirtier than it did without it. I then read the directions and realized maybe I didn't do it right. I tried it again. The second attempt was much better. I was skeptical about how my hair would look at the end of the day but to my surprise it looked just fine. I'll be honest though, I'm not really a fan of the texture it makes my hair and I hate that it turns it ashy from the powder (you have to brush it out) but overall I'm pleased. The more I use it the better I get at applying it. I'm going to try it tomorrow on a REALLY dirty head of hair and see how it does. Wish me luck!
