Unexpected Fun with Friends

Earlier this week a friend of mine asked me if I could watch her 3 year old little boy for short time. At first I didn't think I would be able to but I made it work. Sadie loves Luke and I knew she would enjoy playing with him.

 Luke and Sadie are first friends. They are exactly 5 weeks apart. I love their sweet little friendship.

 We went outside on the deck for a few minutes. It was a beautiful day.

 Sophie was obsessed with the wind blowing the trees. She loved it and would have stayed out there all day if I had let her.

 Luke and Sadie were given the job of throwing all the acorns off the deck. Sophie liked to put them in her mouth, of course, and I am not a fan of digging things out anymore with all those teeth.

 After our little fun outside the older two went to play in Sadie's room and this one put on a show. Her big sister doesn't let her play with her toys very much so she loved the time she had with them while big sis was distracted.

Perhaps I have another performing in the making.

 

We had so much fun with Luke and can't wait for him to come over and play again!

Brusha Brusha Brusha

 Monday morning we took Sadie to her first dentist appointment. I was a little anxious but I really thought she would do just fine. Wrong. Very very wrong.

The plus side is she looked super cute. I'm just trying to find the positives here. 

 Sadie loved the waiting room. She watched TV, played with toys, and practiced writing letters.

 She even did really well getting x-rays. Well, she did great for two out of four. 50% isn't bad.

 After X-rays we headed to the exam room. It started to turn as soon as they put the "bib" on her. She is not of fan of wearing things that aren't "cute." This bib thing just about ruined her life.

It all went completely downhill when they went to lean her back in the chair. Despite the movie on the ceiling she was NOT having it. She screamed the loudest scream I have ever heard. The dentist was able to do an exam since her mouth was open nice and wide. No cavities for Sadie and an ear bleed for the rest of us. I have already told Josh to clear his schedule for her next appointment. It is daddy's turn.

Weekend Wrap-Up

 Last weekend was full of fun! We started out our Saturday with a birthday party for one of our favorite neighbors, Allee. Sadie was so excited to wear her Rapunzel dress.

She owned her role as a princess. She had so much fun at the party. 

I'd be lying if I said she didn't have a moment of insanity where a fit was involved. Three is just hard. She managed to recover and enjoy herself. 

Both girls loved the indoor play area. The slide was fast and that made Sadie very giddy. 

 This girl is just wild. Her daddy chased her everywhere. She wanted to be in the middle of everything and she was.

 The only time he could keep her in one spot for more than 60 seconds was when a balloon was involved.

 The party favors were also a hit. The second we walked into the door Sadie asked to use her new paints. She painted all afternoon and the next day. Amazing.

 Saturday night our beloved Hogs played Bama and endured a heartbreaking loss. I am still sad. I know we're a good team but I am ready for the wins and losses to reflect that. We love our Hogs!

Sunday, of course, we had church. I like to try and take their pictures before we leave but that isn't always a reality. I love these two little ladies. They make me want to lose my ever-lovin' mind on some days but I can't think of anyone sweeter I'd want making me crazy.

It's Peanuts to Me

Well, this sweet love most likely has a peanut allergy. Bummer. I had a feeling she might which is why she hasn't had much peanut butter in her 3 years and 6 months of living. She had allergy testing done (blood work) when she was little and nothing showed up. I gave her peanut butter once with no reaction but then another time I noticed a couple of tiny red pin dots near her lip. I thought I was being paranoid but decided to hold off giving it to her until she was old enough to talk and communicate. Since that time she has had in in small doses on two other occasions with no visible side effects. Still, I just had a feeling she would be allergic.

Last week at school a teacher friend gave her a small Reese's Peanut Butter cup. I let her eat it knowing I needed to pay close attention to her. As soon as we got to the car she started scratching her tongue telling me it itched and that her mouth felt weird. My first thought was we might need to head to the Emergency Room. I looked inside her mouth and nothing was swollen. She had no issues breathing so I decided we'd take the short trip home and get Benadryl. When we got home things weren't worse but they weren't better either. I gave her the Benadryl and waited. After about 20 minutes she said her mouth didn't feel weird anymore but she said her tummy hurt. She acted funny for a second and then she threw up. It was just once and I could tell it wasn't a stomach bug. I knew it had to be the peanut butter. I decided to call the doctor and go ahead and make an appointment to talk about allergies.

We had her doctor's appointment last Thursday. Her pediatrician feels very confident we are dealing with a peanut allergy and prescribed us and EpiJr. I was so relieved. I knew I wanted one of those, just in case. I pray we never have to use it but if we do at least we have it.

Sadie has an actual appointment with an allergist in the near future. They will do the skin test to determine her allergies. I am very anxious for that appointment. She has such issues with eczema as well I am interested to see if she has any other allergies.

I will be honest, I was bummed when this all happened. Of course we want everything about our children to be perfect and we don't want them dealing with anything "different". The truth is, however, that just isn't possible. There will always be things out of our control. If the worst thing Sadie ever has to deal with is a peanut allergy then she will be VERY lucky. SO many people have much bigger issues that I can't even begin to complain about this. It really is no big deal.

I will keep you posted after her testing is finished. Until then at least she can eat chocolate.

Behind Once Again

Once again I am behind on blogging. I have thought about giving it up completely because let's face, I am so bad at keeping up with it. The thing is though, I don't want to give it up. I want to be better about it. Right now there are a lot of things in my life that keep me busy. My life isn't any busier than anyone else's but for me it is overwhelming. I have recently decided that some things just need to be put aside for now. It is time to pick and choose what is most important. I happen to think this blog is pretty important so here I am again, starting over.

Tiny Dancer

Last week Sadie started back
to dance. She loved it last year so we knew we wanted to send her back. I had high hopes that her shoes might still fit for a few months but no such luck. We took her to get new shoes and of course she loved it.

Sadie loves having 4 of her favorite friends in her class this year. Such a cute group of tiny dancers.











I can't wait to see what all she learns this year!

Weekend Rewind

Friday night we had family date night. We went to dinner and then to get ice cream.

The girls were so good and we had a lot of fun!


Both girls loved their ice cream. Sadie had strawberry and Sophie shared with me.


Afterwards their daddy took them on a wagon ride.


Saturday we went to visit some of Josh's family. It was a fun day of eating, playing outside, and spending time with everyone.


Sadie loved putting on a show for everyone.


Sophie did too. She was worn out from all the excitement!
