Birthday Invitation

Sadie's 1st Birthday Party was this past weekend. We had a great time! I will blog party pictures and details soon but first I wanted to share the invitation with you. My friend Tricia did a WONDERFUL job on these. She takes custom orders (on lots of fun things) so you can find her e-mail on her blog. Trust me, you will LOVE everything she designs.
I told Tricia I wanted a graphic for the invitation and party that had to do with the "You Are My Sunshine" theme. She couldn't have designed anything more perfect! I mean a sunshine with a bow! Does it get any better than that for Sadie's party?! No. No it does not.

Thank you, Tricia! Everything you design for me is my new favorite. :)

Unexpected

This week has not started out as I expected. I thought I would rest up from the crazy first birthday festivities and get back to the to-do list that took a back seat to the party planning. Um, yeah, not so much.
Sunday night I started hearing a rattle in Sadie's throat. It came and went so I just assumed it was a head cold. I knew her well visit was first thing yesterday morning so I wasn't too concerned. When we got up yesterday Sadie sounded pitiful and she had a fever. I still didn't think much about it but by the time we got to her well visit appointment I knew something was up.
What was supposed to be a short well visit with 12 month shots turned into a 3 hour appointment which consisted of a chest X-ray and two breathing treatments. Sadie was diagnosed with either a virus or walking pneumonia.
We got her some medicine plus a nebulizer and thought they would do the trick. Not so much. After her first breathing treatment at home she was still wheezing. She played some, ate a little, but then started acting weird. She began breathing really hard and couldn't catch her breath. She was really lethargic and almost out of it. It scared us so we set up another breathing treatment. It didn't help and she just got worse. We immediately put her in her seat and Josh drove as fast as he could to the pediatric urgent care. That was the longest ride of my life and I have never been more scared. Once we got there they heard her breathing and let us go back to get checked. She started perking up and settled down a little. I was so thankful. Her pulse oxygen levels started improving so we went to the waiting room to wait to be seen by the doctor.
Sadie started acting like herself and I knew the prayers of friends were the reason. It didn't take long though and she started breathing heavy again and her fever went back up. The nurse called us back and after monitoring her knew she needed another treatment. It helped a little but not like it should have. The doctor came in and told us they wanted to admit her to our local children's hospital ( which is amazing) and I was so thankful. I was scared to take her home and have her start doing what she did earlier in the day. We were informed she had to be transported by ambulance and I think Sadie was really excited about it. :)
We arrived at the ACH ER around 7:30pm and after two more breathing treatments were in a room about 12:30am. They said she had croup but would still give her medicine for pneumonia since her chest X-ray wasn't clear. It was a long night of no sleep, breathing treatments, etc but after 8:00am this morning Sadie was breathing much better. They monitored her until 4:00 pm then sent us home. I'm so thankful she is better, I'm thankful for doctors and nurses, and my heart is heavy for the momma's and daddies with really sick babies. This was the scariest time for me and I know some parent's really suffer through watching their children fight terrible diseases.
Anyway, I will leave you with some pictures of my sweet baby.

Most expensive ride of her life!

She enjoyed crawling under her bed.

Nap time with Jules.

Feeling much better.

Watching tv with mommy.

Eating and wearing lots of strawberries.

Traveling circus.
Thank you to everyone who prayed for us! It could have been so much worse and I'm so thankful for all of your thoughts and prayers.

12 Months

Sadie, you are 12 months old! That is a whole year! How is that possible? I remember this day a year ago like it was yesterday. I can't believe how much you have changed. You aren't the easiest person to photograph anymore. You wanted to play with the sticker on your shirt rather than look at the camera and smile. I think we'll be done with stickers for now.
You weigh between 23-24 pounds. I can't remember the exact weight but I know it fluctuated. I didn't get your height because at your 12 month well visit you were very sick so the routine things were put aside aside in order to determine what was wrong with you.

Sadie still aren't walking but you definitely get where you need to go by cruising and standing on your own. It is only a matter of time before you are a walker. Scary.
You are a great eater and have started drinking some milk during the day. You aren't quite sure about it but you like it. You love all kinds of food. Your favorite things to eat are cheese, yogurt, carrots, any kind of fruit, corn, chicken quesadillas, and many more things. The only thing you don't like are bananas. We've tried peanut butter a few times and you love it. One time we tried it and you had it and later on you had a small rash. We are waiting a little longer to give you it again just in case it was an allergic reation. We are pretty confident it wasn't but better to be on the safe side.
You wear a size 4 diaper.
You wear size 12 month clothes.
You still take 2 naps when we aren't at school and you sleep from 7 to 7. You love to sleep with your bunny and blankie plus a few books. You love your bed. Even if you aren't tired I can put you in your crib and you will "read" books until you fall asleep. When you wake up in the mornings you "read" some more until I come get you.
Your favortie toys right now are books, babies, your kitchen, flash cards, tupperware, your teapot, and your purse. You really love it when I let you get in the tupperware cabinet and go to town.
You are into EVERYTHING.
You love to watch your Nick Jr video and you still like Praise Baby. More than any of these though you LOVE TO TALK. I am amazed at your vocabulary. You say so many things there is no way I can list them here. Every day you add more words to your list.
You still love to dance and you have lots of really good moves. You would sit and watch Fresh Beat Band all day long if I would let you.
You are still obsessed with Jules and your daddy but luckily you love your momma a lot too. You rarely cry when I drop you off in the nursery and it never lasts long. You are easily distracted. You enjoy playing with your friends so much you forget I was even there.

Sadie, you are the sweetest one year old I have ever met. You have brought more joy to your daddy and I over this last year than what should be allowed. You are so much fun and I love getting to spend all my days with you. I know this next year you'll learn so many new things. It will be a blast to watch. I also know it will go by WAY too fast.
I love you a bushel and a peck!

One Year Ago

Happy 1st Birthday, Sadie!!

April 13, 2011 at 8:50pm you entered this world. It's true what they say, the second I looked into your dark blue eyes I was in love. At that moment I wasn't sure I could love anything more than I did in that instant. I was wrong. Every day my love for you has grown. You are my sweet, beautiful, funny, sassy, strong willed, happy, loving, dramatic, smart, talkative little lady. You made me a momma one year ago today and you have my heart.

I love you, baby!!

Sick Days

My little lady has been sick. Boo. She caught a nasty virus 2 Sundays ago and is just now getting over it. Hand foot and mouth isn't a very nice virus at all and we are praying it leaves our home for good. Luckily she didn't have any sores in her mouth so she has been fairly happy and pleasant the entire time. She has spent lots of time playing at home, taking long naps, and snuggling with mommy, daddy, and Jules. Even with a yucky virus though she is still the cutest baby in the world! In my opinion, of course!

11 Months

March 13, 2012
Sadie Lady, you are eleven months old and this is how you like to handle your photo sessions these days.
Getting your picture isn't as easy as it used to be.
How on earth are you 11 months old? You aren't my tiny little baby anymore.
You sure are pretty though!
Here are a few things you have going on this month:
-You wear size 12 month clothes and a size 4 diaper
-I don't know how much you weigh but I'm guessing around 23 lbs
-You still get 4 bottles of formula but we are working on replacing one of those with a sippy cup of milk. Thank goodness you like milk.
-You don't eat a lot but you aren't picky at all. This month you have shown your love for turnip greens. You choose them over anything else on your plate. You still love anything with cheese and blueberries.
-You have had peanut butter and jelly and you like it a lot too.
-You now have 4 teeth and are working on 2 more. My biggest complaint with teething is that you wake up around 6:30.
-You are all over the place. You aren't walking but you are cruising everywhere and standing on your own for a split second.
-I know I say this every month but this month you have stepped it. You talk ALL THE TIME. It is a mouthful of gibberish. You have complete conversations with yourself. People tell me all the time how amazed they are that you "talk" so much.
-You have added "blueberry" to your list of words as well as "Patsie" (this is her Sunday school teacher) and you have perfected "big dog." People don't believe me that you can say blueberry but it is true. I have it on video.
-You say "me-me-me" when you want to be held, want me to give you a toy or a bite of food, or whatever.
-You smile all the time. You spend most of your day happy, laughing and playing. When we are out in public you smile at everyone we see. I love it when people say, "She's such a happy baby!" because it is true. You really are.
-There is a small part of your day, however, that is filled with a very high pitched scream and a few fits. I'm not a fan of either. You are full of personality and it is so sweet but I'm afraid you're going to be a little strong willed as well.
-You love Patty-Cake, Zaccheus, If You're Happy and You Know It.
-You LOVE LOVE LOVE to dance. When music starts you open up your mouth in amazement and start breaking it down. I can say "shake your booty" and you shake it.
-You love to play with your books, Violet, your babies, your push/walking toy, and boxes.
-You are still obsessed with babies. You get so excited when you see one. I think you forget that you are a baby too.
-You would love it if I let you play with cords, the fire place, wall outlets, the toilet paper roll, the diaper champ, etc.
-You LOVE Jules. When your Jules is around you prefer her over me. :) It doesn't hurt my feelings though because I am thankful you love her. She is very good to you.
-You've also become a daddy's girl. You cry when he puts you down or gives you to me. Luckily I know you love your momma so I don't mind. You're a lucky little girl to have so many people who love you.
Sadie, no matter how old you are or how big you get you will always be my pretty baby. It has been a lot of fun watching your little personality develop. You aren't always easy but it is great seeing you learn and explore new things. I love that you'll put your head on my shoulder or give me a hug. It makes me want to freeze time and keep you like this forever. Your daddy and I thank God for blessing us with you. We don't deserve you but we're thankful. We love you, little lady!

Faces of Defiance
