A New Chapter

Starting today I get to spend almost all my time with this sweet girl.

She's very happy about it! I'm very happy about it too. It was weird leaving my job yesterday but most everyone was very supportive and encouraging. There are always a few people who try to get you down but that's life! At the end of the day I'm doing what's best for my family. This won't be an easy job by any means and since I will be working part time we'll still have to adjust to things, but today starts a new chapter. I'm blessed. I'm thankful. And NOW I have the cutest boss ever!

Get It Together

Well....tomorrow is my last day of work at my full time job. Excited doesn't begin to describe it. I'd be lying though if I didn't confess there's still a little anxiety about leaving the comfort of a full time job. It's just what I know. Every two weeks I knew I would be getting a paycheck. I knew we had good health insurance. I knew that shy of something drastic my job wasn't going anywhere. PLUS working full time really helped me be more organized (Josh would probably disagree but it did). When I was on maternity leave I had all the plans of getting tons of things done and being a supermom, superwife, superchef, superhousekeeper, and superdieter. I can guarantee that did NOT happen. I just couldn't get it together. Well now I really don't have an excuse. I need to get it together and I will feel better if I do. I'm not saying things will be perfect, because they won't BUT I need a system, some organization, to help me.

There are several areas in which I would like to be more organized. If you have ANY suggestions or things you do to stay organized in these let me know.

Planning

The first thing I did in effort to become more organized was to a buy a planner. I always kept up with things on my calendar at work and so I needed something for myself. Even buying a planner was a huge deal. I wanted the perfect one. Well the one I wanted was more expensive than what I needed so I settled for a basic planner from Walmart. It will suit me just fine.

I want to use this to keep track of appointments, bills, play dates, etc. I happen to LOVE writing in a new planner but I usually let it go after a while. I'm attempting to keep it going this time.

Housework

The truth is, if I don't schedule a time to do things around our apartment it won't get done and we'll be living in filth. I need to learn to tackle a few things at a time so it's not so overwhelming.

Meals

This area needs a lot of work. Josh and I don't have the money to be willy-nilly about this. If it's not planned and well thought out we'll end up spending too much on groceries and too much money eating out. We don't have money to do that. I love to cook and try new things but I need to be organized in doing so.

Plus in the near future I will have to start planning Sadie's meals. Right now it's easy. Soon though she'll be on baby food and it is my desire to make her baby food. It will help save money so it is important I at least try.

Dieting

When everything is out of control this area seems to follow suit. I need to have healthy snacks available on the go and I need to be disciplined and self controlled enough to choose those instead of something else. It's hard but I will be happier and more energized if I do. My weight is a big struggle right now so I need to be proactive about getting the weight OFF.

Exercise

This presents a bit of a challenge. We can't afford a gym membership. Period. Our apartment complex has a workout facility but Sadie can't just come and hang out while I work out. My solution would be workout videos and things. The problem with this is we live on the second floor of an apartment. I don't think our downstairs neighbors would appreciate my efforts to get fit. I'd love to be able to walk around our neighborhood but we don't have one. :)

I think I'm just going to have to schedule some workouts around Sadie's nap times and let her nap at my parent's house while I meet with Jillian Michaels to Shred. We'll see.

Blogging

I'm very behind on blogging right now but it is very important that I keep this up and get better at it. I actually want to be a better blogger too. I'd like to write about things that have meaning. I'd like to share more recipes and fun ideas. I think I will have to schedule blogging time for after Sadie goes to bed. At least with blogging it is something I can do while relaxing in bed myself.

Sewing

Now that I have a baby girl I MUST make time to sew. I will regret it if I don't. First I need to organize my sewing area so that it isn't so overwhelming. I have a very small space so I need to be creative. I love to sew and although it is stressful at times it is something I enjoy. Plus it sure would be nice to start selling a few things here and there again. It would help out a lot!

Family

I can't forget Josh and Sadie. Between all this other I still want and need to spend good quality time with my husband and daughter. Nothing is worth sacrificing time with them. I can already tell that Josh and I need to be deliberate about taking time for dates and things. It's so easy to let it slip by but what a shame to let it do that.

Sadie is changing and growing so much and I don't want to miss a thing with her either. She needs my attention and I want to give it to her.

The LORD

MOST importantly I need to spend time with the Lord. I miss Him. It hasn't been the same lately and I can tell. There is NO way I will have the strength and energy to do anything listed above if I don't spend time with Him first. My goal is to get up a few minutes before Sadie does to have a quiet time. I need time each day set aside or it won't happen. He has been so good to me and I cringe at the thought that I would ignore Him day in and day out.

Like I mentioned before, if anyone has any suggestions on ways I can become more organized let me have it. :)

Perfect Gift

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

3 Months Old

Wednesday, July 13, 2011

Sadie, you are 3 MONTHS OLD. It's hard to believe. You have changed so much this last month. I feel like you really transitioned from a newborn to a baby. And your looks have changed a lot too. You're still as pretty as ever but it is getting harder to determine who you look like. In one picture you look just like your daddy and in the next picture you look like me. I guess you just look like Sadie. :)

It's hard to tell in these pictures just how much you've grown but you can definitely see the extra leg rolls you've developed recently. They might be one of my favorite things about you.

You wear mainly size 3 month clothes but you still have some 0-3 month that fit you. I've put you in a couple of size 3-6 month things for the length but most of those are still a little big.
You wear a size 1 diaper both day and night. We will probably move up to a size 2 at night soon.

I don't have your official stats because your next appointment isn't until next month.

You are still taking Nutramigen formula. You get about 27 ounces a day. You take 5 bottles with 5 ounces and your last bottle only has 2 ounces. I've added some apple juice to your 10am bottle to help move things along when needed. :) Your last bottle of the day has rice cereal in it. You seem to really like it. I've been working hard on getting you to drop your last bottle. Right now you take it at 9:00pm and you sleep until 7:00am. The goal is for your last bottle to be around 7 or 7:30.
Speaking of sleeping, since you've decided to be a big girl and roll over we've had to stop swaddling you. The first night was rough but you seem to be getting more used to the freedom. You always end up sideways in the corner.
You still don't take a paci super well. You like it every once in a while but you don't have to have it to sleep. You've also started cuddling with one of your lovies. It's very sweet. It's a pink bunny and most of the time you just chew on its ear.
You put anything and everything into your mouth. You suck hard on your hand and you drool A LOT. I think you might be an early teether. We might not see any teeth for a while but you seem to be getting your gums ready.

You are working hard on controlling your arms and hands. You're getting better about grabbing onto things with purpose. You enjoy grabbing and pulling my hair now. I, however, do not enjoy it. Anytime there is a toy or something in front of you, you concentrate and try your best to get it or move it. Sometimes you succeed and other times you don't. You'll get there though. You have also started enjoying sitting up in your bumbo. You don't like to sit in it too long because it wears you out. Although you have good neck control you can't hold your head steady for too long.
You LOVE being on the floor. You don't care if it's on your play mat or just a quilt. I think you enjoy being able to stretch out and kick your legs.
You have developed a love for TV. If it is on your eyes are glued. You could seriously watch it all day long but luckily I make you do other things.
You have been laughing for a while now but you've recently started squealing in laughter. You crack yourself up. Although you get a little loud sometimes it is music to my ears. You smile and talk all the time too. It is just the sweetest. Unfortunately you're more focused on the camera than on smiling when I take your picture now. We need to work on that.

You really are such a good baby. You hardly ever fuss now unless you're completely exhausted or your reflux medicine has worn off. You're just content and your daddy and I love that. You are truly the greatest joy in our lives and we can't remember what life was like before you came. It certainly wasn't as sweet as it is now. This has been the best 3 months we've ever had.
We are blessed to be your parents and we thank God for giving you to us.
We love you, Sadie Lady.

Family Gathering

I'm so behind on my posting. I hate being this behind but work has kept me busy. Luckily I only have 4 more days. YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be sure and get caught up on everything by next week.

A few weeks ago Mom, Sadie, and I went to spend the day with some family on my mom's side who hadn't met Sadie yet. It was a full day and she got to see lots of my favorite people. Even some of my family from Georgia got to see her. They were all so sweet to bring her neat gifts.

Poor Sadie is scheduled to a fault and she was a little fussy around nap time. When the girl is ready to sleep she is READY to sleep. Other than that she did really good. Here are some pictures from the day.

All ready to go.

Looking Good

If you haven't already noticed I got a great new blog makeover! My friend Tricia designed it, of course. As you all probably know by now she designs everything of mine. I say this every time but I mean it this time, this might be my favorite design yet. It's so fun and colorful. She added some new things that I haven't set up yet but I will get them done soon.

Thanks again, Tricia! You know I'll be asking for you to design me something else soon I'm sure. Oh wait...I already have! :)

Anyway, you should all check Tricia out because she's great. And it looks like I might actually get to meet her in person SOON! YEA!!!!!!

Big Sadie, Little Sadie

After we announced the name we picked for our baby I learned that the oldest member in our church is named Sadie. It made me even more excited about naming our baby Sadie. So at this point our youngest and oldest church member is Sadie.

Big Sadie is in her mid-to-upper 90's although she does NOT look it at all. I am so glad I was about to have Big Sadie and Little Sadie's picture together. Big Sadie made my Sadie a blanket and had "Lil Sadie" embroidered on it. So special to me.
Here is Big Sadie's daughter...who happens to be named Sadie too. I didn't know this either because she goes by her middle name.

Sadie shares her name with some wonderful women. I chose her name because it was classic and timeless. It has become more popular lately which I'm not a fan of but that's ok. I still love it and am so happy to have a Sadie of my very own. And just for the record if your dog, cat, guinea pig, etc is named Sadie, I don't need to know about it. :)
